Pasquale Loreti
My name is Pasquale Loreti and I’m 38 years old. I first heard Dr. Abbondanza on a local radio during the fall of 1994 and decided to make an appointment with him.
Although I have a long experience of hard contact lens use, I always had a hard time adjusting to them and my astigmatism (which is what I was told to have) continued degenerating.
After a long visit, Dr. Abbondanza was the only doctor to diagnose bilateral keratoconus, a corneal malformation which worsens and can lead to corneal transplant.
With my wife backing me, but against the will of my family, I decided to undergo an operation with Dr. Abbondanza. On January 7, 1995 I was prepared for recovery. Two operations would be performed on each eye, which included one touch-up treatment performed within the year.
I asked Dr. Abbondanza not to use a syringe for the anaesthetic (for fear of the needle) and he assured me in his calm manner that two or three eye-drops would be sufficient.
I say these things because 10 years later I can still see very well despite what so many ophthalmologists had to say about their disbelief in this operation and how sooner or later I would regret it.
Since then many friends and acquaintances have been lucky enough to have met Dr. Abbondanza, a modest and generous physician, through me. Instead of performing factory line cataract operations alongside a science luminary, he preferred specializing in microsurgery at his own expense.
I will always be grateful to him for helping me lead an excellent life during these ten years.
